Saturday Treatment - Adversity Evokes My Inner Empowerment

A tree has both straight and crooked branches; the symmetry of the tree, however, is perfect. Life is balanced like a tree. When you consider the struggles, difficulties, and sorrows as a part of it, then you see it as beautiful and perfect. - George Lamsa

As Daisaku Ikeda states, to change poison into medicine is “to transform even the greatest evil into the greatest good.” One does not simply return to zero as it were, but one actually gains from the experience that once seemed so poisonous. In the words of Nichiren, “Poison turns into sweet dew [amrita], the finest of all flavors.” - "Changing Poison into Medicine"

Adversity Evokes My Inner Empowerment

Without denying the evidence of my sense or the evolving wisdom of modern science, I turn within to my Higher Power and recognize that I am one individualized center of power within the one omnipotent Power of the Absolute, which is all, contains all, and expresses all that I call the Universe. It is the only Actor acting in, through, as, and by means of all Its Self-Expressed Reality. I choose to embrace that Reality as my own which empowers me to shift my view from "hardship and woe" headlines to clear, graceful, and easy vision of harmony and fulfillment in this world which already works for all.

I know that whether nightmares or heavenly visions, our persistent thoughts and dreams emerge as our experiences so, I direct my vision to my highest possibilities and I contemplate my problems in terms of their answers. My Higher Power responds by clearing my vision to see the best in all situations and act with the Actor to make it so. Infinite Love shows Its presence everywhere in everyone. Infinite Intelligence weaves all events into one continuous reality of health happiness, and harmony that I live now.

As I actively see what I am looking for as my reality now unfolding, I realize it with quiet calm confidence and easy poise. My thought, my word, is my power to draw upon the infinite Power, which responds to me as I accept Its response with my grateful heart. And so, it is.

First you ask definitely for direction, then it will enter your consciousness as a definite thought; then in your turn you give it back the thought and it will give you back the thing. It answers every question, solves every problem; it is the solution to every difficulty. It is like the sunlight of eternal truth bursting through the clouds of obscurity and bathing the whole world in glory. It is the absolute that you are dealing with and nothing else. – Ernest Holmes “Lectures on the Absolute”
