Being Your Vision – Religious Prosperity

We should have a spirit of adventure in this – the wonder of it, the continual discovery, the steady unfoldment, the joyful anticipation of more and better, the silent recognition of our partnership with the Invisible. We should have a deep sense of calm and peace, an abiding faith and trust in the universe. This is the essence of faith the beauty of religion.
― Ernest Holmes How to Use the Science of Mind

Despite the fact that I am a minister of Religious Science, I can honestly say that a major focus of my religion is prosperity. From brushing my teeth to brushing aside every thought of lack by affirming the presence of Spirit as my plenteous supply of every good thing I require, I religiously affirm that Spirit as my life is here to prosper and I am here to live prosperously.

I practice my religion earnestly and with enthusiasm, I easily and proudly share my enthusiasm for my beliefs, confident that most people prefer the freedom of prosperity to the bondage of anything less. I do proselytize my faith in Spirit as the creator and supplier of all prosperity. I know that the root for the word religion means a bringing or coming together, so I seek to bring us all together in a faith in both the presence and the innocence of prosperity as our most beneficial way of living with faith in Spirit.

I embrace the foundation of all of the world’s great religions, recognizing that they grew from the understanding that there is always a better way to live a fuller, richer, and happier life. Some people take religious teachings too far and seek to impose their beliefs on others. Some people take prosperity too far and seek to greedily take the benefits for themselves without caring for or sharing them with others. The actions of some do not diminish the essence of value in all the excellent teachings and practices of religion as a means to prosperous living.

Spirit gives us the universe and dominion over it and we mock Spirit by preaching poverty as a virtue not because we are evil but because we are ignorant of the truth and have learned our beliefs from traditions tainted by feudalism in an age when feudalism was essential to the maintenance of our civilization. We are not completely free of that history of tribal, territorial, and national loyalties, but with prayerful thoughts and actions, we can contribute to a global prosperity by raising our own awareness to the lavish abundance that Spirit offers and then sharing by example and act the reality of prosperity.

What would our world be like if we all had enough and knew that we had enough without needing to legislate or politicize or socialize the economy? What would life be like for each of us if we could all do the work we enjoy most with the same enthusiasm as pursue or hobbies to refresh ourselves from the need to work for a living and enjoy the lifestyle that suits our tastes?

I know this is an ideal but isn’t all religious practice the active pursuit of an ideal? At least this ideal excludes no one because it includes everyone.

Religiously and with enthusiasm, I develop the spiritual practices of habitual prosperity. I seek it, I see it, and I embrace it as the way of life that I believe in and I receive my desire by seeing expanding prosperity in all of my life and surroundings for so it is.

“First you ask definitely for direction, then it will enter your consciousness as a definite thought; then in your turn you give it back the thought and it will give you back the thing. It answers every question, solves every problem; it is the solution to every difficulty.” Ernest Holmes
