The gods have become diseases;
not Zeus, but the solar plexus, now rules Olympus and causes the oddities of
the professional office hour, or disturbs the brains of the politician and
journalist who then unwittingly release mental epidemics. – Carl Jung
Modern literature, television,
and movies often depict a mad scramble of competition, infighting, betrayal,
and scandal as an almost necessary adjunct to the reach for prosperity in today’s
marketplace. Governments vie with governments for global economic superiority.
Even states and cities seek to lure businesses away from other states with special
tax incentives and favorable legislation. I am reminded of the amusement park
rides with boogie men and ghosts that move aside at just the last moment.
We receive daily bombardment in
the media of disaster, economic confusion, and the evils of the other side from
every side and viewpoint. “The corporations are greedy.” “The unemployed or
disabled are lazy.” “Government is too big and invasive.” “The government
allows too much and does not do enough.” Listening to opinions has created
frustration, illness, and both anger and apathy. Jung wrote that quote in 1931.
He could have said it this morning.
I believe in something more than
competition that is other than a socialized welfare state existence. I believe
that we are spiritual beings with individual access to infinite possibility yet
we retain our unity in Spirit and therefore we are family responsible for
knowing the best about and for each other. Your good and my good, though not
the same in detail, rely on each other’s success for our full spiritual
experience of prosperity.
In a sane world, we are like a
group of climbers who assist each other in reaching the summit; and, the
highest achievers are those who ensure that everyone makes it under their own
power while giving a hand up as required. Perhaps the most powerful hand up we
can offer is our prayer of love and acceptance for each other.
I prefer that everyone succeed in
life. I prefer that our success is mutually beneficial. I am open and accepting
of any process for success that adds to each participant’s joy and peace. In my
thought all of us are spiritually awakening to that highest Spirit that is our
Source. The power of prayer is in the belief and the feeling that moves in the
consciousness of the one praying. We may make simple affirmative declarative
statements, accompanied by our sense of rightness for the highest good of all
of us with our highest motivation of love. These prayers are powerfully
effective in changing our appreciation of the world without compelling anyone
to yield freedom of personal choice. With prayers like these, any actions by
anyone counter to perfect harmony, eventually become impotent of permanent
effect and every action supportive of harmony finds success.
Now turning in awareness to the
Source of us all, I declare that Source works in, as, and through all thoughts
and actions to bring into form all of the highest good as universal prosperity
in this moment. I gratefully accept it and let it flow and so it is.

“First
you ask definitely for direction, then it will enter your consciousness as a
definite thought; then in your turn you give it back the thought and it will
give you back the thing. It answers every question, solves every problem; it is
the solution to every difficulty.” Ernest Holmes
